The ex-post analysis (or module 1) of the study is an evaluation of the 2000 EU-Mexico FTA along the sustainability dimensions (economic, social, and environmental). The key will be to identify and filter out FTA induced effects, i.e. clearly stating the contribution of the 2000 FTA to economic, social, and environmental impacts since the implementation of the agreement. In order to achieve this we will employ state of the art methodological tools. These tools are consistent with the ex-ante analysis, which make results comparable. Ultimately, the goal is to evaluate policies in terms of their effectiveness and efficiency with regard to the extent to which their intended objectives have been achieved, as well as the extent to which past policies have had unintended side-effects that are detrimental to the intended objectives.
